The U.S. Embassy’s Democracy Commission Small Grants Program announces an open competition for organizations to submit a statement of interest to carry out projects that contribute to transparent, competitive, and equitable democratic systems and the protection of human rights in Moldova.
The Democracy Commission program is a focused yet flexible mechanism that provides targeted funding for sustainable projects that foster the development of civil society. The selection of projects is based on the applicants’ ability to demonstrate concrete achievements that can show impact in a given field or specific community.

Program Objectives

Project proposals must address at least one of the following themes:
  • Promotion of labor rights and/or child labor protections.
  • Support for broad and equitable political participation, including in the electoral process.
  • Advocacy for the rights of LGBTQI+ persons.
  • Building awareness and support for persons with disabilities to include their voices in municipal design, accessibility, and inclusion.
Funding Information
  • Total available funding: $100,000.00
  • Award amounts: awards may range from a minimum of $10,000.00 to a maximum of $25,000.00
  • Length of performance period: Maximum 12 months
  • Number of awards anticipated: Depending on funding availability
