The Organisation  

Solutions for Our Climate (SFOC) is an independent policy research and advocacy organisation that aims to make emissions trajectories across Asia compatible with the Paris Agreement of 1.5°C warming target. SFOC is led by legal, economic, financial, and environmental experts with experience in energy and climate policy.  

Since its founding in 2016, SFOC has led strategic campaigns on coal power phase-out, renewables, and climate finance. More recently SFOC has expanded its advocacy campaigns beyond the power sector, establishing oil and gas, legal, steel, methane, maritime transportation, and land-use programs. SFOC’s effectiveness comes from its extensive digital and media communication, legal strategy, diplomatic and political network, and leadership among grassroots campaigns.

The Role 

SFOC initiated its methane program in 2022 and has mapped out a significant part of its three to five-year strategy and objectives. 

In this role your responsibilities will be to:

  • Refine and develop the global strategy for SFOC’s Methane Program and monitor progress  
  • Oversee and contribute to research on Korea’s methane emissions and relevant policies
  • Develop campaigns and communication strategies in collaboration with expert colleagues
  • Organize seminars, workshops, and events in line with the program strategy 
  • Advocate to Korean policymakers, O&G, and agricultural stakeholders re emission reduction
  • Collaborate with international and domestic climate advocacy partners to increase impact
  • Engage with SFOC’s Methane Program funders and other program and network teams  

Skills Required  

You are an experienced and resilient leader with a passion to address climate change, relishing the opportunity to work with, and learn from, climate action leaders at the forefront of the regional movement. Ideally, you will have methane, oil/gas, or related industry research experience underpinned with campaigning, advocacy, and/or policy experience. Other relevant experience will be considered.

Importantly, you want to join an expanding movement and collaborate with international experts who are creating real impact. Additionally, you will offer:

  • Demonstrated critical and strategic thinking skills and creative problem-solving abilities
  • Proven business and marketing skills and a track record of successful campaigns
  • Fluency in English and Korean is essential (TOPIK 6 at minimum)
  • Climate change experience or knowledge is preferred, but not a prerequisite 
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment; agility with ambiguity and unpredictability
