Search for Common Ground (Search), in partnership with Femmes Congolaise pour le Développement (FECONDE), implements the project “ Msitu wetu, umilele wetu (Our Forest, Our Future)” which aims to build peaceful relations and shared ownership in the Okapis wildlife reserve, funded by USAID, for a period of 36 months and implemented in three chiefdoms of the Mambasa territory: Wales-Karo and Babila-Babombi (in the Mambasa health zone) and Bandaka (in health zone in Nia-Nia).

This project is part of a context of conflict around the Okapi Wildlife Reserve (OWR) through the exploitation of natural resources, the operations of armed groups and social tensions, which result in mistrust and resentment between communities. local and reserve authorities. Factors escalating tensions in the management of natural resources around and in the reserve due to unequal access to resources, a growing migrant population and insufficient employment opportunities, especially for young people, further exacerbate tensions within the reserve.

the financial assistant will assist the finance officer during the execution and financial monitoring of all the activities of the action. He will be directly responsible for all the cash flow of the action and will ensure the financial monitoring of the various financial transactions on a daily basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the management of the petty cash as well as the safe (keeping of cash books, safe & banks);
  • Ensure liquidity management in conjunction with the project manager and the Finance officer;
  • Payment of bills and other miscellaneous expenses (taxes, taxes, water, electricity, security, medical care, vehicle rental, etc.);
  • Proceed with disbursements of funds to the bank, their receipts and disbursements in the office safe;
  • Monitor the transfer of funds to project implementation sites via Mobil Many and other fund transfer agencies;
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and provide clear explanations where there are differences;
  • Ensure that the documentation validating the expenses is appropriate, realistic, complete and kept according to the requirements of SFCG;
  • Follow up on cash advances and expense justifications;
  • Receive, check and register the supporting documents after visa of the hierarchy;
  • Encode daily accounting documents and send them accompanied by the related journals to the Finance Officer;
  • Prepare the weekly and monthly cash report;
  • Ensure all payments from its base for activities but also for the various partners, both public and private;
  • Ensure the daily scan of any document related to each payment made;
  • Set up a filing system for documents and files by creating appropriate filing cabinets for each category, both physical and electronic;
  • Ensure compliance with SFCG internal rules and procedures.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Be of Congolese nationality and reside in ITURI or be ready to settle there free of charge;
  • Higher or university studies in commercial and administrative sciences, economics, management, or any other similar discipline;
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a similar position and responsibility, in an international NGO or any other well-structured organization working with policies in place and deadlines;
  • Be rigorous, consistent, orderly and show concern for achieving the expected results;
  • Flexibility and ability to travel often through project implementation areas;
  • Respect for confidentiality and strong listening skills as well as good interpersonal communication;
  • Able to work in a multicultural environment;
  • Have attention to detail, be honest and of good character;
  • Ability to take initiatives, to be procreative and to find solutions,
  • Ability to cooperate and work under pressure;
  • Perfect written and oral knowledge of French, Lingala. Knowledge of the English language would be an advantage;
