Coordinate the planning, reporting and budgeting for the Research, Standards, and Practices Unit (RSPU), and support training, research, and research management. Ensure that resources are used and accounted for effectively, program activities are well planned and reported on, and communication and cross-program work is effective. Provide administrative and program support to RSPU advisors and implement and coordinate the program's administrative and communications systems to contribute to the smooth running of the team.

About You

You will have a passion for Human Rights and experience in coordinating and managing training and research within an organisation; with strong administrative and communication skills. You will also have a high attention to detail with the ability to manage different tasks. 

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to RSPU training program, including the organisation of documents and information; selection of participants; developing training materials; arranging venue and catering, and organising travel arrangements and necessary equipment when training/mentoring activities are taking place outside London. 
  • Support the development of online learning methodologies and other technical innovation, including through producing in-house e-learning modules; developing relationships with relevant outside consultants and agencies; keeping apprised of new techniques and developments. Research and make recommendations on better use of technology for training in a dispersed IS. 
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of IS financial procedures; deal with expense reports and process payments and invoices; assist with preparing project budgets; obtain regular reports on expenditure and other agreed management information from the Finance and Accounting Program and collate these for the Programme Director. 
  • Support research projects originated or managed by RSPU, maintain an overview of unit projects and their implementation, and assist in research and the preparation of relevant project agreements. 
  • Prepare contracts and standardise terms of reference for consultancies, track deadlines for consultant outputs, liaise with consultants as required to ensure that external partners are clear on their terms of work, and coordinate the work of consultants and volunteers 

Skills And Experience

  • Strong communications skills, both oral and written, in English (other relevant language/s desirable), including the ability to communicate complex information and institutional positions. 
  • Experience in preparing and monitoring budgets and an ability to identify budget problems and solve them.  
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining office systems and coordinating an efficient flow of communications and information, including the creation and maintenance of electronic databases. 
  • Experience working in a team and understanding the importance of efficient communications for team coordination and effective functioning, including the ability to supervise volunteers. 
  • Experience in managing conflicting demands, meeting deadlines and adjusting priorities.
