UNICEF Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) leads revenue generation and advocacy from the private sector to fund UNICEF programmatic activity and drive results for children.  PFP is projected to generate over $ 7 billion for programmes during the 2022-2025 strategic plan.   As PFP’s main Business Partners (85% of revenue) are external and independent to UNICEF (National Committees) with planning/monitoring/reporting outside traditional UNICEF systems and PFP-specific classifications, PFP requires specific support within ICTD.  This support is to assure strategic development, business analysis, project management, PFP finance applications development, data integration and access to data to advance income generation and assure statutory reporting requirements are upheld in a timely manner.

This post is funded by the Private Fundraising and Partnership Division (PFP) and is located within ICTD.  The post will support the management of PFP applications and related data.

Under the supervision of System Analyst in PFP-ICT with a dotted reporting line to post 56966, Finance Manager, P4, the purpose of this role is to provide technical and administration support to the PFP line of business applications throughout their lifecycle, surface, review and analyze the PFP BI requirements, manage and maintain the design and development of related data models, manage the development of data portal, analytics, and dashboard, and manage the customer support (PFP, Natcoms, PSFR COs, and other HQ divisions ) in using the data portal, analytics, and dashboard

The role is accountable to:

  • Ensure optimized, the integrity of data and reliable analytics and reporting,
  • Manage and support PFP Finance IT (finance applications development) related projects, support the development of new, changes or enhancement features of the PFP line of business applications
  • Manage PFP Finance and Fundraising Business Intelligence,
  • Technical and business support to stakeholders and customer services.

Manage the technical and administration support to the PFP line of business applications throughout their lifecycle: 

  • Manage the development of new, changes, or enhancement features of each applications.
  • Regularly review applications capabilities (individually and the entire eco-system)  against the business needs, and ensure they keep providing the expected business values. 
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to relevant business processes, design and other specifications.
  • Perform application administration functions and ensure the integrity of applications data and optimized performance.
  • Collaborate with the ICT-APPS Unit to ensure smooth data and applications integration.

Surface, review and analyze the PFP BI requirements,  and manage and maintain the design and development of related data models:

  • Manage with business stakeholders the review of the business needs of BI, and support the requirement analysis exercise to ensure alignment with the needs, technology capabilities, and resources to manage. 
  • Manage and maintain relevant databases, integration processes, as well as relevant analysis services related to the PFP line of business applications.
  • Monitor PFP data warehouse performance and capacities, and coordinate the integration of new data sources, or retirement of legacy sources. 
  • Validate with business stakeholders and ensure the maintenance of the level, format, timelines, and accuracy of PFP metrics to support the PFP performance analysis and monitoring.

 Manage the development and maintenance of PFP data portal, analytics and reporting:

  • Support the development, maintenance, and publication of Business Intelligence reports using standard platforms and  according to business specifications.
  • Develop and maintain data models as per the standard methods and best practices, and promoting the reuse of common dimensions and metrics.
  • Administer PFP Dashboard and related analysis services, workgroups, and applications.

Manage the provision of customer support in using the data portal, analytics, and dashboard:

  • Stakeholders include, but are not limited to, UNICEF senior management, DFAM, PFP Senior Management Team (SMT), National Committees, country offices, and Regional Support Centers (RSCs).
  • Provide support and training to these clients for PFP applications and data analysis.
  • Own and track service calls related to PFP BI issues and ensure temporary or permanent resolution.

 Other duties: Provide backup to the Business Analyst as required. Collaborate with the ICT-APPS Unit in providing support to the entire PFP Applications eco-system

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education:

  • An advanced University Degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology management, business administration, or another related social science field.
  • Alternatively, a first-level University Degree in a relevant field combined with (2) additional years of qualifying professional experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • Business Analysis Certification (CAP, CBDA, PBA, etc) would be an asset.
  • Project Management Certification (such as Prince 2 or Agile) would be an asset.

Experience:

  • A minimum of five years of professional work experience with proven experience with database management, business intelligence tools and practice, and data warehousing is required.
  • Experience in coordinating cross-functional teams/projects and multiple stakeholders is required.
  • Experience in a UN organization is an asset. 
  • Minimum five years of experience in complex data modeling, data mining, and data visualization environment, with Microsoft (on-Premise and Cloud) SQL, SSIS, SSAS, tabular models, and Power BI/DAX is required.  
  • Experience working with multi-dimensional fundraising and financial data and metrics is required.  

Technical Competencies

  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel and standard office applications is required.
  • Experience leading or coordinating 3rd party vendors is an asset. 

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in English is required.  Working knowledge in French and/or another UN language would be an asset.
