The Investment Analyst will support the Senior Specialist for Financial Collaboration and Outreach to enhance financial collaboration and identify project funding opportunities with Multilateral Development Banks (MDB), Official Development Assistance (ODA) agencies, Government ministries and other financial institutions. In doing so the Analyst will be conducting financial analysis and projections to design and recommend suitable financial structures, identify project issues, opportunities, and risk/reward factors. The Analyst will conduct market data research and independently develop sound financial models to assist screening of business opportunities in support of business development and overall collaboration with financial institutions, project developers, and other relevant stakeholders. 

Engagement

  • Work closely with country teams and teams in the Investment and Policy Solutions Division (IPSD) to identify project opportunities and provide sound financial analysis on viability of such projects in support of engagements with MDBs, ODAs, Government ministries and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Support building collaborative networks with representatives from multilateral development banks (MDBs) including the World Bank, ADB, CABEI; bilateral development agencies (BDAs) including KEXIM, ICAK, KOTRA and KEA; and other public/private stakeholders as well as government officials of member and partner countries to explore opportunities for earmarked funding and enhanced financial collaboration.
  • Work closely with the “Senior Specialist for Financial Collaboration and Outreach” to position GGGI as a trustworthy development partner and comply with donor standards and priorities including guidelines on the administration of carbon neutrality programs/projects.
  • Support fund management, by coordinating communication between external and internal stakeholders. 

Delivery

  •  Apply specialized finance skills to use assumptions into the creation of financial projections for identified priority projects.
  • Provide timely technical and financial expertise and analysis to the project pipeline in support of efficient dialogue with relevant financial institutions.
  • Research, investigate, and prepare business cases for new potential opportunities.
  • Implement financial program facilities/funds and outreach collaboration.
  • Contribute to the development of carbon neutrality program initiative and guidelines for capacity building and policy/regulatory framework support.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of guidelines, aimed to create access to earmarked funding opportunities as well as to build partnerships.
  • Provide technical and financial expertise to implement said guidelines for GGGI projects teams.
  • Support the Senior Specialist to administer IPSD funds and program resources, and to develop comprehensive strategy for outreach and engagement of MDBs, BDAs, Korean ministries with economic functions, development agencies, and public/private sector stakeholders.
  • Support Assistant Director-General and Head of IPSD’s engagements with the Korean stakeholders by serving as a key focal point liaison of the IPSD front office.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in finance/climate finance, economics, development cooperation, public administration, or other relevant disciplines is required, while a Master’s degree would be considered an advantage and is highly preferred.
  • Fluency in Korean and English, written and oral.
  • Preference of 3-5 years of professional experience in climate finance, international development, government relations, donor relations, finance development and/or climate change program management.

  • Understanding of global perspectives on green growth and economic development.
  • Understanding of climate neutrality program and related policy/regulatory framework.
  • Familiarity with intergovernmental processes and financial collaboration.
  • Experience in building financial models in support of project development.
  • Experience in managing stakeholder outreach and engagement processes.
  • Experience working with government agencies and multilateral organizations.
  • Experience in managing portfolio from governments or public entities for allocation of project.
