Green Climate Fund

The Intern will provide analytical and operational support to the ​Policy and Strategy Unit and Operations unit in the Office of the Executive Director​. S/he will have the opportunity to learn and expand her/his experiences by providing assistance in relation to implementation of the GCF Strategic Plan 2024-2027 and Secretariat 2024 work programme, supporting the delivery of the Secretariat policy cycle from development to implementation, project pipeline management and management of the Secretariat investment committees.  
Under the overall guidance of the designated primary and alternate supervisors within the ​Office of the Executive Director,​ the Intern is expected to support: 
  • Analysis, coordination of tasks and report-writing related to implementation of the GCF Strategic Plan 2024-2027, including contributing to developing and implementing work programmes aligned with the Strategic plan and supporting capability assessments;  
  • Monitoring and analysis of the GCF project pipeline and its management; 
  • Managing the Secretariat’s policy agenda, working with Secretariat policy teams to coordinate the drafting, implementation and monitoring of policies and enhancement of the Secretariat’s policy resources, systems and knowledge management practices; 
  • Administration of the Climate Investment Committee and Operations Committee, including setting agendas, arranging meetings, following up on the decisions of the committees;  
  • Supporting other strategic and corporate priorities of the Office of the Executive Director, including project management of cross-Secretariat change initiatives. 
Requirements and qualifications: 
  • Enrolled in Master’s program in International Relations, Law, Finance, Economics, Science or related fields;  
  • Knowledge and experience in analyzing complex problems, data and processes; and coordinating collaboration between multiple stakeholders;  
  • Ability to multitask and deliver within tight timelines, while demonstrating attention to detail; 
  • Excellent drafting, presentation and communication skills; 
  • Good understanding and experience in climate change, climate finance and/or designing and implementing projects in developing countries is an added advantage; 
  • Proficiency in using standard software programs: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Asana or other project management software; 
  • Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of another United Nations language, in particular French and Spanish, and/or Portuguese is an advantage.
