icddr,b is a Bangladesh-based international health research institute that strives to solve key public health problems through high-quality scientific research and innovation. icddrb as a values-based organization encourages women and people with disabilities.

The Advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (AdSEARCH) project of icddr,b aims to improve sexual and reproductive health (SRH) outcomes and realise rights among different population groups with distinct SRH needs in Bangladesh. The project will be focusing on generating new evidence related to family planning, abortion, post-abortion care, STI/RTIs, and reproductive cancers and maternal and neonatal health.

The Senior Social Media Officer reporting to the Communication Specialist position will provide an opportunity of generate, edit, review, publish and share daily content related to the public health communication and scientific research-based environment at icddr,b.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a social media strategy and content plan for a year through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging, and audience identification for science communication;
  • Generate, edit, review, publish and share content (original text, images, video, or HTML under AdSEARCH) daily that will engage the target audience including donors, government agencies, media houses, policymakers, and the mass audience;
  • Set up and optimise social media and digital platforms to increase the visibility and engagement of high-priority topics in Public Health from social content;
  • Generate, monitor, gather, and interpret analytics, conduct preliminary analysis, and reports on the effectiveness and influence of social media communications tools for reaching and engaging target audiences and on key performance indicators;
  • Be one of the gatekeepers of the project’s digital assets and be vigilant to identify and minimize disruption.
  • Integrates social media analytics with Web and other analytics in coordination with other team member as needed for meaningful comprehensive analysis that informs decision-making and priority-setting.
  • Monitor, review, and analyze comments and conversations on the project’s social media sites and also on external social media, such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc. to identify insights, emerging trends, risks and impact on project, looking for opportunities for engagement.
  • Liaison and consults with Content and Design team for appropriate actions.
  • Maintain all social media platforms for the project; and, ensures timeliness and quality of all activities given their visibility to the public;

Required qualification and experience:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent preferably in Media and Communications/ Journalism/ Marketing/ English from a reputed university.
  • 5 years relevant experiences.
