Position Description:
Media Facility under the Laboratory Sciences and Services Division is responsible for preparing microbiological culture media, Sterilization, decontamination of hazardous laboratory wastes and preservation of bacterial stock culture. This section provides prepared bacterial culture media to various research projects and clinical laboratories at Dhaka Office to maintain ISO 17025 guideline and media are used for the growth and biochemical tests required for various research activities as well as isolation and identification of microorganisms.
The Senior Technical Assistant will report to the Manager, Media Facility, and will be responsible for Cleaning and washing Labware, operating the autoclave machine, sterilizing biohazard and other lab waste, assist to prepare media for conducting high-quality research and services within the guidelines of SOP to maintain all documents related to ISO 17025 guideline and inventory/protocols, organizational values and guidelines. S/he will be involved in –
Operate autoclave machines, steam generator, distilled water plant and hot air sterilizer following standard operating procedures (SOP);
Receive and organize samples from different laboratories and keep the record on the worksheet;
Check biohazard materials for fulfillment of criteria, weigh and fill out log books and sterilize as per requirement following standard procedure in order to ensure smooth sample receiving procedure.
Carry out media preparation works; Operate digital balance and boiling, plugging, dispense and pour microbiological media;
Receive and check biohazard materials and sterilize as per SOP and deliver to the vendor for final disposal;
Operate hot air oven and distilled water plant and delivery of distilled water to the users in order to ensure proper disposal of bio-hazardous materials.
Perform routine maintenance of autoclave machine, cleaning, monitoring set temperature of different equipment and fill up equipment file and report to the supervisor;
