The New Zealand government provides complete tertiary scholarships for qualified international students to pursue full-time studies at a Pacific university or a New Zealand educational institution.

Eligibility:

  • When assessing scholarship applications, we prefer applicants who want to study courses that align strongly with their current work experience. We prefer applicants who will continue working in their current job sector after they finish their scholarship.
  • Age: Over 18 years old and no upper limit for applicants but under 40 years of age can get preference.
  • Expect all scholars to return home after their scholarship for at least two years to contribute to the social and economic development of their own country.
  • Successful scholarship applicants must meet both the academic entry requirements and the English language requirements determined by each education institution

Guidelines to select applicants with these attributes:

  • They have strong academic ability.
  • They show commitment to the social and economic development of their country.
  • They are 39 years or younger when the scholarship starts.
  • They choose courses that align with our recommended subjects.
  • They want to encourage positive relations with New Zealand now and in the future.
  • They are seeking to undertake a qualification that progresses on from their highest qualification.

  • Marksheets and degree
  • Demonstrate the skills and knowledge you are going to gain from your preferred courses, how these skills and knowledge are important to your country’s social and economic development.

Date and Deadline:

The Selection 2023 application portal is anticipated to open in March 2023, for study in 2024. Applications will be accepted from scholars in eligible countries across the Pacific, Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Samoa Foundations Intake: the application portal for scholars currently undertaking foundation study in Samoa will be open from 12.00 am (midnight) Thursday 1 September 2022 to 12.00 pm (midday) Tuesday 5 October 2022 (New Zealand time).
