The CERN EP Detector Technologies group is renowned for its expertise in the development, characterization, and maintenance of large-scale detectors, such as the Ring Imaging Cherenkov system of LHCb instrumented with advanced photon detectors. You will have the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of photon detection, working on both commercial and custom devices. This role also involves active participation in ongoing R&D programmes focused on vacuum and solid-state photon detector technologies, as well as contributing to the next generation of detector upgrades.
Key Responsibilities:
Characterize and assess both commercial and custom photon detector devices.
Contribute to CERN's R&D programmes (EP R&D and DRD4) focused on photon detector technologies.
Oversee the maintenance, supervision, and enhancement of laboratory facilities dedicated to photon detection research.
Support advancements in picosecond timing operation for photon detectors in preparation for future large-scale detector upgrades.
